I have combined maps of Africa and Europe and the water that lies between. I cut across land, water and uneven borders giving each section of each map equal weight. Continents transition from 2D to3D forms revealing a fragile beauty to be handled carefully and considered in new ways. This year, more than 300,000 people have crossed the Mediterranean to reach Europe and 2,500 have died or gone missing (August 2015). What if there were safer and fairer asylum procedures/channels and the secure and settled of Europe created new meeting places where there was equally-weighted, common ground for all with no passports?
