Nature’s Windows
(Endangered species)

Nature’s Windows, 7 x 5 x 2.5 cm
(4 sculptures which compact into each other, this is the dimension of the largest),
August 2015

This work was made in response to guided fieldtrips in rural Australia witnessing the effects of Climate Change on plants and animals. As a city-dweller this highlighted how disengaged I was from the natural environment. In rural and urban settings I began collecting natural materials which I made into miniature ecoprint books. Flipping these nature books out they revealed a shape that is reminiscent of church windows or shrines; creating a nook to place a natural object. Here nature and culture coexist. What if we began to notice and care deeply for what it is we stand to lose?
